A Winnipeg woman is facing a slew of charges in connection to a weeks-long crime spree that resulted in thousands of dollars of stolen property and $60,000 in damage.
According to the Winnipeg Police Service (WPS), between March 13 and the 31, the suspect was involved in break-ins at 2 houses and 10 detached garages. Police allege she was also linked to an arson at one of the garages.
Victims reported about $12,000 in stolen goods and about $60,000 in damage from the arson. The property damage from the break-ins is still being assessed.
Officers arrested the suspect on March 31 following break-ins at detached garages in the 300 block of Bronx Avenue, the 200 block of Chelsea Avenue, and the 300 block of Chelsea Avenue.
Police responded after one of the break-ins activated an alarm, with the suspect being found near the intersection of Melborne Avenue and Brazier Street.
The suspect—a 23-year-old woman—was taken into custody and is facing several charges, including five counts of break and enter and theft, five counts of break and enter with intent, and arson causing damage to property.
None of the charges have been proven in court.
