A 40-year-old New Brunswick man has been charged with accessing Child Sexual Abuse and Exploitation Material. The New Brunswick Internet Child Exploitation Unit (ICE) launched an investigation in December 2025 after learning Child Sexual Abuse and Exploitation Material had been located on a device in relation to a separate investigation that started in April 2024. ICE arrested the Burton, N.B., man on April 22 in relation to the Child Sexual Abuse and Exploitation Material investigation. He was placed on strict conditions pending a court appearance on Sept. 22 and remained in custody related to other charges. Jared Josiah Smith was charged with accessing Child Sexual Abuse and Exploitation Material in Fredericton provincial court on Monday. The investigation is ongoing.
