A woman is facing charges after she was allegedly caught stunting, driving through a construction zone, and fleeing from police in Nova Scotia’s Antigonish County. The RCMP says an officer spotted an eastbound Nissan Sentra travelling 166 km/h in a 110 km/h zone on Highway 104 near Indian Mountain around 2:50 p.m. on June 19. “When the officer attempted to stop the vehicle, the driver accelerated and drove dangerously, swerving around other vehicles and continuing through a construction zone,” said police in a news release Friday. “In the interest of public safety, the officer didn’t pursue the Sentra.” Police say officers eventually found the vehicle near James River, but it again failed to stop, and they decided not to pursue it. A short time later, the RCMP received a 911 call about a Nissan Sentra driving dangerously on Highway 104 in Dagger Woods. “Officers responded immediately and located the Sentra parked at a nearby business, where the driver was arrested without incident,” said police. “A search of the vehicle resulted in the seizure of cannabis, prescription pills, cash, and suspected stolen property.” The 32-year-old Halifax woman is facing charges of fleeing from police, dangerously operating a motor vehicle, stunting and transporting cannabis illegally.
