A man from Liverpool, N.S., is facing charges after he allegedly hit multiple vehicles on a busy road in the community last Friday. The RCMP says it received reports of a Chevrolet Silverado travelling on Highway 3 that hit at least four vehicles without stopping around 2 p.m. Police originally reported a Volkswagen Jetta was involved, but later clarified it was a truck. Some drivers of the hit cars suffered non-life-threatening injuries. Police say they patrolled the area and found the truck parked at a gas station. “When officers told the driver, identified as Jason MacLeod, that he was under arrest, he resisted and assaulted them,” reads a news release from the RCMP. “Officers used a conducted energy weapon and oleoresin capsicum spray before MacLeod was taken into custody.” MacLeod was taken to hospital for non-life-threatening injuries and was later released to police. The 48-year-old has been charged with: MacLeod was released on conditions pending an appearance in Bridgewater provincial court on Sept. 9. Police say two officers involved in his arrest were also treated in hospital for non-life-threatening injuries. The investigation is ongoing.
