Man facing more than 20 charges for historical sexual assaults: N.S. RCMP

A man from Nova Scotia’s Annapolis County is facing more than 20 charges for alleged sexual assaults dating back to the 1980s.

The RCMP says it launched an investigation in October 2025 after receiving a report of historical sexual assaults and physical abuse.

Two more victims were identified as the investigation continued, according to a news release from the force.

Police say two of the three victims were youths at the time of the offences, which allegedly happened in Digby and Annapolis counties between 1988 and 2002.

All three victims were reportedly known to the man.

Aubrey Lawrence Andrews, 58, of Waldeck was arrested on May 13 in connection with the investigation.

Police say he has been charged with 21 offences including:

• assault (three counts)
• sexual assault (six counts)
• forcible confinement (two counts)

Andrews made his first appearance in Digby provincial court on the day of his arrest.

He was released on conditions and is scheduled to return to court on June 30.

Police say they believe there may be more victims who have not yet come forward.

“There’s no time limit on reporting sexual offences to police,” said the RCMP in a statement Thursday. “The Nova Scotia RCMP recognizes the lasting impact these crimes can have on victims, including feelings of stress, shame, and fear, regardless of how much time has passed. Support services are available, including through RCMP Victim Services.”

Their investigation is ongoing.
