Former RM of McKillop employee charged in fraud investigation

A former RM of McKillop employee faces fraud, theft, forgery and money laundering charges after a financial irregularities probe.

The investigation began in early 2025 and saw the RM’s council and administration work closely with RCMP, legal counsel and forensic accountants in the province.

An arrest was made last week, with four charges being laid, including theft and fraud over $5000, forgery and money laundering.

The RM confirms all municipal funds in connection to the investigation have been recovered, adding stronger internal monitors and procedures will ‘help minimize future risk.’
