N.B. RCMP trying to identify men suspected of driving car into Charlo River

Police are trying to identify two men who allegedly drove a vehicle into the Charlo River in Charlo, N.B., last month.

Campbellton RCMP received several reports on June 20 about a video, which appeared to show two people intentionally driving a car into the river near the Levesque Bridge, circulating online.

“One of the individuals then climbs on top of the submerged vehicle, and the other individual climbs into the trunk,” said the RCMP in a news release Thursday.

“Police are now releasing stills from the videos in hopes that, despite the quality, someone may recognize the individuals.”

The first person is described as a man with a slim build and a buzz cut. He was wearing all black.

The second person is also described as a man with a slim build. He was wearing a navy T-shirt and a baseball cap.

The vehicle is described as a black Chevrolet Aveo.

Police are asking anyone who recognizes the men in the photos, anyone who witnessed the incident, or anyone who has information that could assist in the investigation to contact Campbellton RCMP at 506-789-6000.
