Police say a teen is in hospital with serious injuries after they were hit by a vehicle near Chocolate Lake in Halifax Monday night. Halifax Regional Police responded to the Melwood Avenue and Herring Cove Road area around 5:50 p.m. Police say a vehicle travelling on Herring Cove Road struck a 14-year-old who was crossing the road. The victim was taken to hospital by EHS with what were believed to be serious injuries. The area was closed to traffic following the collision. People were asked to avoid the area and take alternate routes. The area reopened to traffic before 9 p.m. There is no word on any charges at this time. Police say their investigation is ongoing.
