The Nova Scotia RCMP is looking for witnesses after a serious assault in Eskasoni early Saturday morning. Police responded to a report of an injured man lying on the road near the intersection of Mickeys Lane and Shore Road around 12:30 a.m. “Officers learned that the man was walking home after attending a gathering when he became involved in an altercation with individuals known to him. The altercation escalated, resulting in a serious assault,” reads an RCMP news release. The 39-year-old victim was taken to hospital by EHS with serious, but non-life-threatening, injuries. Police believe there were witnesses in the area at the time of the assault and are trying to identify those involved. Investigators are asking anyone with information, or video surveillance, to call them at 902-379-2822 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
