Barrie gas prices to climb 8 cents per litre Wednesday, says affordable energy president

Just as drivers were starting to feel some relief at the pumps, gas prices are expected to rise again.

Dan McTeague, president of Canadians for Affordable Energy, says the cost of gas could jump 8 cents per litre on Wednesday.

If the prediction holds, it will be the largest single-day increase since early May and could reverse the steady drop seen over the past few weeks.

This spike comes only days after gas prices in the Barrie-area plunged by ten cents, offering drivers a brief but well-needed break.

According to Canadians for Affordable Energy, in Barrie, regular gasoline is expected to climb from 169.9 cents per litre to 177.9 cents per litre on Wednesday.

Premium fuel could rise from 199.9 cents to 207.9 cents per litre, while diesel is expected to jump from 188.9 cents to 195.9 cents per litre.

This recent spike comes as peace talks between the United States and Iran continue.
