Fire officials responded to a house fire at 580 West Street South in Orillia.

Simcoe County paramedics, Orillia Fire, and Ontario Provincial Police were dispatched just before 6 p.m., on Wednesday.

When crews arrived, they found a mobile home with heavy flames inside and out, extending into the attic space. Officials say crews began an offensive fire attack and knocked the blaze down.

One person was checked by paramedics for smoke inhalation but was not taken to hospital.

The family’s cat and dog died in the fire.

The fire is deemed accidental, according to Orillia Fire. Officials confirmed it began outside in the area of a BBQ.

Fire officials would like to note that working smoke alarms alerted the residents and they were able to exit the home quickly and safely.

Hydro and Enbridge Gas also braved the scene.

It is unclear how much damage was caused to the mobile home.
