If you take the Barrie Line on your daily GO Transit commute, be wary, your route may be modified.

Starting on Saturday, the Barrie Line service will temporarily change for two weekends until Sun., May 4, according to Metrolinx.

These temporary changes will allow for vital track work to widen the Barrie Line corridor in preparation for the installation of a second track. Metrloinx says this will result in faster and more frequent service across the network.

From April 26-27 and May 3-4, there will be no GO Train service on the Barrie Line. GO Buses will replace train service at all stations except Downsview GO and Union Station.

Here are the new modifications:

  • GO Bus Route 68F will serve Barrie Transit Terminal, Allandale Waterfront GO, Barrie South GO, Barrie Bus Terminal, and Highway 407 Bus Terminal.
  • GO Bus Route 68G will serve Barrie Bus Terminal and all stops to Highway 407 Bus Terminal.
  • GO Bus route 65H will serve Aurora GO and run express to Highway 407 Bus Terminal.
  • GO Bus route 65G will serve Aurora GO, King City GO, Maple GO, Rutherford GO and run express to Highway 407 Bus Terminal.
  • GO Bus route 65J will serve East Gwillimbury GO, Newmarket GO, Aurora GO, King City GO, Maple GO, Rutherford GO, and Highway 407 Bus Terminal.
  • GO Bus route 68H will serve Bradford GO, East Gwillimbury GO, Newmarket GO, Aurora GO, then run express to Highway 407 Bus Terminal.

With track work continuing between both weekends, some Barrie Line trips will depart at different times on Monday, April 28-29 and May 5-6.

Metrolinx says regular service will resume on Wed., May 7.
