New Tecumseth residents are now facing an estimated $200,000 in damages after a fire broke out in their home on April 9.

Just before 1 p.m., officials were called to 20 Willis Drive in Alliston.

Ontario Provincial Police and New Tecumseth Fire Rescue say they observed a fully-engulfed two-storey home. Crews initiated an offensive attack in the rear of the house.

Officers confirmed that no one was home at the time of the blaze and no injuries were reported.

OPP confirmed that the fire did not spread to any nearby residences and it was put out shortly after crews arrived.

The deputy chief and fire prevention officer remained on the scene with a pump crew to investigate. The investigation remains ongoing, according to police - but is not considered to be suspicious.

The road near the Willis Drive home was temporarily closed until the fire was put out. The home owners were required to make alternative accommodations due to the extensive damage.
