Shortly after 10 p.m., Simcoe County Emergency Animal Response (SCEAR) received an urgent call about a pregnant black cat trapped inside an HVAC system. The cat had been rescued about a month previously, and was now trapped inside the heating/cooling system. The foster parent had already called a repair technician, but he was unable to safely reach the black cat. SCEAR rescuers showed up with a snake-type camera and began investigating the HVAC’s cooling system. As luck would have it, she was stuck in a five-inch diameter pipe. “With the cooperation and support of the property owner, the HVAC technician, and others on scene, we worked together to carefully access her location and safely get her contained,” said Kurt (no last name used) of SCEAR. Kurt said the pregnant mom had no visible injuries, but that she was extremely tired and dehydrated after being trapped for so long. “This rescue had an extremely happy ending, and we are incredibly grateful to everyone who stayed on scene, assisted us, provided access, and helped make this rescue possible,” said Kurt.
