OPP stop armed robbery at Penetanguishene convenience store

For an employee at a Penetanguishene store, an early morning shift took a serious turn.

Provincial police say around 2:30 a.m. on Tuesday, a man walked into a convenience store on Main Street in Penetanguishene and brandished “an edged weapon,” then demanded money from the employee.

OPP say officers arrived while the suspect was still on scene and he was taken into custody.

A 30-year-old Barrie man has been charged in connection to the incident.

His charges include robbery with a weapon and uttering threats to cause death or bodily harm.
