Over a dozen firefighters braved a blaze in an Alliston home on Wednesday.
Just before 1 p.m., officials were called to the scene of Willis Drive in Alliston.
Firefighters from New Tecumseth arrived at a two-storey home to put out heavy smoke and flames.
Crews initiated an offensive attack in the rear of the house. Officials say no one was inside at the time of the fire.
The blaze was quickly contained on the main level, but extensive heat and smoke damage occurred throughout, shared Dan P. Heydon, New Tecumseth’s fire chief.
Ontario Provincial Police confirmed that the cause is still undetermined.
It is unclear how much damage was done to the home or how exactly the fire started.
The deputy chief and fire prevention officer remain on the scene with a pump crew for the investigation.
