THIS WEEK'S FIRE DANGER RATING:
This rating is determined using the Fire Weather Index which measures how likely wildland fires are to start, spread and burn intensely. It combines weather factors like temperature, rainfall, wind and humidity with fuel moisture conditions to estimate fire danger levels and support fire management decisions.

YOUR CAMPING GUIDE

Choose a safe spot: Set up near a water source and away from wind. Use bare rock or dirt and keep at least one metre from anything flammable with three metres of clear space above.
Prepare the area: Clear a two metre space of grass, leaves and twigs. Scrape down to soil and keep water and a shovel close by.
Keep it small: Build a fire no larger than one metre high and wide—smaller fires are safer, easier to control and better for cooking.
Stay with it: Never leave your campfire unattended. You are responsible for keeping it under control at all times.
Put it out completely: Douse with water, stir the ashes and repeat until everything is cool, soaked and no smoke remains.
