It’s a must-win for Cavalry FC Saturday at ATCO Field. Cavalry is taking on FC Supra de Quebec in the second leg of their two-game aggregate Canadian Premier League (CPL) playoff. Despite finishing 22 points behind Cavalry in the regular season, FC Supra won the first game 2-1, with Cavalry looking out of sorts, particularly in the first half. They know the importance of Saturday’s match: defeat FC Supra by two goals and Cavalry gets to host the league final, with the possibility of winning both the CPL Shield as regular season champs and the North Star Cup as league champions. Lose and the season is over. Cavalry got some good news, as team captain Sergio Camargo is available to play. Friday, Camargo told the media that there’s a way to look at the situation as a glass half-full. “It’s halftime on our field,” Camargo said. “We have 90 minutes to claw back the score and who knows what happens tomorrow. It’s going to be one of the hardest things for Supra to do this year is hold us off for 90 minutes, and that’s the only thing that we can do.” In their most recent match at ATCO Field, Cavalry FC prevailed 6-0. Cavalry coach Tommy Wheeldon Jr. paid tribute to FC Supra’s efforts in Game 1, but remained confident his squad will find a way Saturday. “Like I said, we knew it was a 180-minute game,” Wheeldon Jr. said. “(It’s a) tough place to go and Supra did a great job in the way they started. “The support from the (Supra) fans were brilliant for them, but now, we get to return the favour (at ATCO Field).” Kickoff for Saturday’s game is 3 p.m. at ATCO Field.
