Remy Schofield got his first tattoo about 20 years ago. Since then, he has spent roughly 5,000 hours in the tattoo chair. His body is covered in dozens of layers of tattoos, and he says he now gets new ink two to three times a week. “I like the creative and the kind of progressive aspects of it,” Schofield said. “I’ve always felt it’s kind of like customizing a game character or something, or being able to choose what you look like. I really like the creative aspects of it, the customization of it.” Schofield has been recognized by Guinness World Records as the world’s most tattooed person, although he never set out to break a world record. His friend, Lucky Diamond Rich, who also holds a Guinness World Records title for the most extensive tattoo coverage, contacted the organization about Schofield’s story. That led to the creation of a new category recognizing Schofield’s record. “He set up a meeting between myself and the editor of Guinness. And as soon as he looked at my YouTube channel, even in the last seven and a half years that I’ve been doing that, there was evidence of more tattoo work on me than anyone that’s ever lived. And it wasn’t even close,” Schofield said. For now, Schofield says he has no plans to stop getting tattoos. “The only logical reason I would ever stop is if I didn’t have any fun with it anymore,” he said. “There are some spots that I probably had enough of. But in most places, I’m still enjoying it more than I’m dreading it.”
