A Barrie woman convicted of stealing the identity of a nurse and working in seniors’ homes has now pleaded guilty to sharing intimate images of a person without their consent, while serving her two-year conditional sentence under house arrest. Hailey Roberts, 35, pleaded guilty to the single count in a Midland courtroom Thursday afternoon, in doing so, admitting to violating the terms of her conditional sentence order imposed last December. Roberts avoided actual jail time when Justice Esther Rosenberg ruled Roberts could serve her sentence in the community under house arrest for 18 months followed by six months under curfew conditions. Within months, the court heard, Roberts was sending intimate nude images of a person without their consent, as a form of revenge pornography between February and May of this year. Initially also charged with criminal harassment, Roberts was arrested in May and has been behind bars since the new charges were laid. Roberts’ latest plea deal includes her admitting to breaching her conditional sentence for her conviction on nine counts of fraud and assault. Roberts admitted in June 2025 to posing as a nurse to work in long-term care homes by stealing a licensed nurse’s identity for four years in seniors’ facilities in Midland, Stayner and Elmvale by falsifying documents and records. Roberts also admitted to using needles on vulnerable seniors, administering vaccines and medication to 58 patients, while posing as the licensed nurse until her arrest in the fall of 2024. According to those who know her, Roberts has faked cancer and pregnancy with former partners and ripped off a Barrie landlord when she squatted in a rental home without paying rent for a year, starting in 2019. Roberts apologized to the court and said she has taken steps while in jail to improve herself, including counselling and Bible study. The court heard she was working as a pastry chef while serving her conditional sentence under house arrest, which will resume once she is released from jail. The joint submission included two years of probation. Roberts will also be banned from communicating with, or being anywhere near the complainant. Justice Philop John Brissette is expected to sentence Roberts next week.
