Two people have been charged in the death of a weeks-old infant last year. Emergency crews were called for a report of a baby in medical distress in the area of 33 Street and 116A Avenue on Feb. 4, 2025. The 25-day-old baby was taken to hospital, where he died. The Edmonton Police Service homicide section was notified about the death the following day. An autopsy determined the baby died of severe acute malnutrition and dehydration, and the manner of death was ruled a homicide. On Thursday, the parents of the infant, Lexi Tingley, 24, and Wolf Song Benson, 34, were each charged with failing to provide necessaries of life and criminal negligence causing death. No further details have been released.
