Body found after apartment fire in Red Deer

One person is dead after an apartment fire in Red Deer last week.

Firefighters responded to the building at 50 Avenue, south of 42 Street around 1 p.m. on Friday.

The fire was contained to one unit of the building.

When crews were able to enter the suite a body, believed to be that of a 34-year-old man, was found inside.

An autopsy has been scheduled for Monday in Calgary.

The fire is not believed to be suspicious, but police are still investigating.

According to the City of Red Deer Emergency Services, four residents were displaced by the fire.
