The Edmonton Corn Maze is welcoming guests for the summer and fall while honouring a local business. This year’s maze was created to pay homage to The Little Potato Company. The maze’s design features their mascot, the Spuddies. • Download the CTV News App for breaking news alerts on all the top Edmonton stories Jesse Kraay, the owner of the Edmonton Corn Maze, told CTV News Edmonton their partnership with The Little Potato Company had been forming for some time. “The farmer who we rent the land off of grows potatoes for The Little Potato Company. So he’s always been trying to get us to do this,” Kraay said on Thursday. “We thought it’d be a good year to go with this and give it a try.” According to Kraay, the field is full by May with the corn growing to nearly six inches tall. By the time the corn maze opens – usually in late July – the corn is tall but hasn’t reached its peak and will take another three to four weeks to fully grow. Due to the amount of rain this season, the corn is taller than it has been in other years. “It’s been great to get some rain. The corn loves it, so it sucks up all the moisture, and then with some heat, it grows like crazy,” said Kraay. “Right now most of the fields are six to seven feet tall and you can almost watch it grow on a day like this.” The corn maze takes on average 40 minutes to an hour to walk to complete, which is nearly five kilometres if you go down every trail. Other activities are available on the grounds, including farm animals, jumping pillows, a tractor ride, spud guns, mini-golf and more.
