Elk Island National Park east of Edmonton has been closed due to flooding caused by Monday’s storm. “Visitor safety is Parks Canada’s top priority. Flooding, downed and hazardous trees present a danger to visitors. We are taking steps to address the situation and to re-open the park to visitors as soon as possible,” reads a notice posted to the park’s website. CTV News Edmonton has asked Parks Canada for more information. The park received 34 millimetres of rain on Monday. Edmonton is about 20 millimetres away from setting the record for the wettest July, and month, on record.
