Man pleads guilty to manslaughter in 2024 killing of Aylissa Rovere

Collin Boucher-Gionet has pleaded guilty to manslaughter in the killing of his girlfriend Aylissa Rovere.

Boucher-Gionet was initially charged with second-degree murder and indignity to a body in connection to Rovere’s death.

He pleaded guilty to the lesser charge of manslaughter on Friday.

Edmonton police found human remains at a home near Stony Plain in September 2024 after investigating a case regarding Rovere, who was reported missing.

An autopsy confirmed the identity of Rovere, who was 32-years-old at the time of her death, which was ultimately deemed a homicide.

The manner in which Rovere died has not been made public.

Edmonton police said Rovere and Boucher-Gionet were in an “intimate relationship.”

Boucher-Gionet was arrested and accused in the spring of 2025 after being at-large for more than a year. He was granted bail at $2,500 and released on house arrest despite a history of violence.

Court documents list previous convictions including uttering threats, assault, and assault with a weapon.

Rovere, who was a mother of two, is remembered by her family for her kindness and good nature.

The next court date for 36-year-old Boucher-Gionet is scheduled for June 26.
