After a few dry days, the chance of showers has entered the picture once again. It doesn’t really look like the Edmonton area will be targetted by a large rain; anything that develops this afternoon and/or early evening will be hit-n-miss. The prime window for wet weather (if we see any) looks to be roughly 3 p.m. to 8 p,m. That doesn’t mean it’s going to rain throughout that timeframe. But, if we see anything, it’ll likely happen in that window. Elsewhere, we have a higher potential for thunderstorms (possibly severe) in northeastern and southwestern Alberta late Thursday. We’ll get back into a drier and sunnier pattern for Friday and Saturday as an area of high pressure drifts through. Temperatures are also expected to shoot up as we close the week. Thursday’s high will depend on how quickly the clouds increase in the afternoon and the timing of the showers. We should end up somewhere in the 23 to 26 C range. Friday afternoon should hit the 27/28 C range and we’ll be close to 30 C in Edmonton Saturday afternoon. Sunday has the potential to be a bit cloudier and there’s a decent chance of some late-day showers as a low pressure system moves in from the southwest. On the backside of that system, showers or periods of rain are likely on Monday in central and north-central Alberta. Here’s the forecast for Edmonton and area: Today - Partly cloudy. 30% chance of an afternoon shower. High: 24 Tonight - Partly cloudy. 30% chance of an evening shower. 9pm: 20 Friday - Mainly sunny.
