Next Wednesday could be the last opportunity for aviation fans to catch the Snowbirds fly over Edmonton for several years. The Canadian Forces iconic military flight team will conduct a series of ceremonial flyovers over central Edmonton July 15, according to a release from the Edmonton International Airport (YEG) on Wednesday. This year’s performances are expected to attract significant attention. It comes after the federal government’s announcement that the Snowbirds will pause performances after the 2026 season while the team transitions to a new aircraft fleet. The Snowbirds will take off from YEG, and head towards central Edmonton to perform several flyovers. YEG suggests the best viewing locations will be: Edmontonians can also catch the Snowbirds throughout the south, central and northwest parts of the city. The flyover is expected to happen between 12:15 p.m. and 12:45 p.m. but timing may vary depending on operational requirements. If the weather isn’t cooperating, heavy smoke or operation issues, the flyover may be cancelled or modified.
