This month has been the wettest June in Edmonton on record

It’s official: This has been the wettest month of June on record in Edmonton, with records dating back to the late 1800s.

The city sits at 262 mm of rain up to noon on Sunday, June 28 (with a chance to add to that total later in the day).

That tops the previous record of 217 mm from June 1914.

The official weather station at Edmonton International Airport only has records dating back to the mid 1960s and that station already set the record for wettest June earlier in the week.

That weather station now sits at 221 mm of rain (so far) in the month of June.

The wettest month on record in Edmonton is July 1901. That month, 283 mm of rain fell.

June 2026 has now moved into second place on the all-time wettest months list.

A few notes:

• There are backyard weather stations around the city that have reported even more rain this past month than what the Environment and Climate Change Canada stations are reporting.
• The June rain total for Blatchford is an estimate. The official number is 255 mm because the data from June 26 is missing. However, an average of 7 mm of rain fell at surrounding stations on that date so I’ve added 7 mm to the Blatchford total.

Even without that 7 mm, this is still the wettest June on record for Edmonton.
