Toddler found dead in downtown Edmonton, police investigating

Edmonton police are investigating the weekend death of a three-year-old girl downtown.

In a news release, the Edmonton Police Service (EPS) said around 8:30 p.m. Saturday, officers were called to assist paramedics at a multi-unit residence near 91 Street and Jasper Avenue.

EPS said it was reported to them that a toddler was found dead inside a suite.

Police said “due to suspicious circumstances surrounding the death,” the EPS Homicide Unit has taken over the investigation.

An autopsy is scheduled for Wednesday.

EPS did not release any further details.
