Brantford man charged with second-degree murder

A Brantford man is accused of a fatal stabbing on a city trail.

The 28-year-old, who has not been identified, is now charged with second-degree murder.

A disturbance in the area of Grand River Avenue and Morrell Street was reported to Brantford Police around 5 p.m. Wednesday.

“Early investigation revealed that one man had been assaulted and stabbed,” they said a media release. “Despite receiving life-saving measures, [the victim] succumbed to his injuries.”

He was not named.

Police said a second man was taken to hospital with serious injuries.

Later, the 28-year-old was arrested and charged.

“Police believe that this an isolated incident,” the media release said. “No other suspects are wanted by police. The weapon believed to have been used in the incident has been recovered by police.”
