Investigation continues into cause of Cainsville, Ont. fire

Residents were asked to keep their windows and doors closed on Thursday while crews worked to contain flames at a commercial property in Cainsville, Ont.

Ontario Provincial Police issued the first alert at 1:57 p.m. for 50 Shaver Street. That address is linked to HGC Management Inc., a waste management and recycling facility, near Ewart Avenue.

According to the County of Brant, approximately 25 volunteer firefighters were called in to fight the flames.

“Due to the duration of the incident, crews were rotated throughout the response to ensure firefighter safety and maintain operations,” they said.

No injuries were reported.

The smoke from the fire was also visible in parts of Brantford.

The county said there were no environmental concerns and the Ontario Fire Marshal would not be attending the scene.

“At this time, the cause of the fire remains unknown, and the extent of the damage has not yet been determined,” they told CTV News on Friday.
