Employees at Roadtrek are facing another week of layoffs as the company continues to grapple with U.S. tariffs.
In an email obtained by CTV, the company said, “We are still in the process of navigating our next steps as a business through these challenging times.”
On Monday, around 80 people working at Roadtrek Inc. in Cambridge, Ont. were told the company was making job cuts linked to the tariffs.
Initially, they thought they’d be recalled on April 14, however the email on Thursday set the new anticipated return-to-work date as April 21.
“Please know that we are actively exploring every available opportunity to bring you back to work as soon as possible,” the email said.
Unifor Local 1106 representative Gary Hudson previously told CTV News, “I wish I could give them the right answer and say, ‘Yeah, everything’s going to be great. But again, I don’t have those answers. And I don’t want to give anybody false hope.”
Despite the uncertainty, Hudson said he’s looking forward to getting back to work, whenever that may be.
CTV News reached out to the company, but did not hear back by our deadline.
