One person was injured in an aircraft collision on an airport runway in Guelph-Eramosa Township. Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), paramedics, and fire crews responded around 1:15 p.m. Friday after hearing reports of a plane crash at an airport on Skyway Drive. “It is reported that a small general aviation aircraft collided into the runway during takeoff,” OPP said in a news release. Police said one occupant in the plane sustained minor, non-life-threatening injuries and was taken to hospital. Transport Canada was notified of the collision. According to a spokesperson, a Cessna 172 aircraft, with one person on board, overran one of the runways during departure. “The aircraft nosed over at the end of the runway. There were no reported injuries though the aircraft was damaged,” an email statement to CTV News read in part. “The TSB did not deploy investigators and has classified this occurrence as a Class 5 occurrence... the investigation is limited to data gathering and the data are recorded for statistical reporting and future analysis.”
