Another stretch of comfortable summer weather is on the way, with temperatures remaining in the mid-20s and humidity levels staying in check through the end of the work week, according to CTV News meteorologist Julie Atchison. “The wind’s a bit gusty through the afternoon, close to 40 kilometres per hour, but that northerly wind is keeping things nice and fresh and the humidity levels in check,” Atchison said. While some cloud cover and light rainfall were reported in eastern Ontario near Ottawa, most of southern Ontario remained under clear skies Wednesday as a high-pressure system drifted overhead. “Some cloud cover in eastern Ontario and some light rainfall as we push towards Ottawa, but the rest of southern Ontario is in the clear,” she added. Clear skies are expected to continue overnight, with temperatures falling into the low-to-mid teens. London is forecast to reach 14 C overnight, while Mount Forest and the Kitchener-Waterloo area are expected to dip to 13 C. Communities near Lake Huron are expected to remain slightly warmer at around 15 C. “It would be a great night to open the windows,” Atchison said. The pleasant conditions are expected to continue into Thursday, with sunshine and a high of 26 C forecast across much of the region. Friday will bring a warmer air mass, with temperatures climbing to 29 C under a mix of sun and cloud. There will also be a 30 per cent chance of showers. Rain chances increase heading into the weekend, with forecasters now expecting showers to arrive earlier on Saturday. “We have a 40 per cent chance of rain through the day and into Saturday evening,” Atchison said. Temperatures are expected to reach a high of 25 C. Despite the chance of rain this weekend, Atchison encouraged residents to take advantage of the current conditions.
