‘Armed and dangerous’ suspect located and arrested in South Bruce

The Huron and South Bruce OPP detachments have located and arrested an individual previously considered armed, dangerous and at-large.

On Thursday at 11 a.m., Huron OPP received a report of two individuals that appeared to be unconscious in a vehicle, who fled after first responders arrived on scene near Main Street South and Wellington Street East in Exeter.

Police say the fleeing suspects then approached an individual, brandished a firearm, and stole their vehicle.

Officers took one person into custody in South Huron without incident however the second suspect fled from the area.

Police say the remaining suspect approached a second victim, stole a second vehicle in South Huron and fled.

An advisory was issued to the public while police searched for the remaining suspect. Their photo, name, and vehicle description was released to the public and media.

At 10 p.m., South Bruce OPP found the individual and placed them into custody with the assistance of the OPP West Region Canine Unit.

Police say there is no threat to public safety. Officers would like to thank members of the public for their cooperation and understanding, and extend appreciation to those who contacted police with information.
