Montreal police (SPVM) are investigating an arson attack at a mixed commercial-residential building in the Saint-Léonard borough. Police received a 911 call around 4:15 a.m. reporting a fire on Jean-Talon Street, near de Pontoise Street. When officers arrived on the scene, the Montreal fire department was already working to bring the blaze under control. According to initial reports, one or more suspects set a fire in front of the entrance door of a ground floor unit, with the affected dwelling located on the second floor. The suspect or suspects then fled before firefighters and police arrived. Incendiary materials were found at the scene. Damage to the building is minor. No injuries were reported. Police will check for possible surveillance cameras in the area. No arrests have been made and the investigation is ongoing.
