Middlesex OPP say a driver of a transport truck has died following a two-vehicle collision involving another transport truck. The incident happened around 5:40 p.m. Thursday in the westbound lanes of Highway 401 between Highbury Avenue and Veterans Memorial Parkway. The driver of one of the trucks was transported to hospital with life-threatening-injuries, where they were later pronounced deceased. The driver and passenger of the second vehicle were not injured. The collision resulted in 200-litres of diesel being spilled on the highway, and the Ministry of the Environment was contacted for spill containment and cleanup. The westbound lanes between Highbury and Veterans were closed for several hours while police investigated and conducted cleanup. OPP reported just after 1 a.m. that the rods had reopened.
