The London Fire Department is reminding residents to use caution around trails and steep embankments after a rescue at Meadowlily Heritage Forest Trail on Wednesday evening. Fire officials say the department’s Technical Rescue Team responded after a person fell down a steep embankment and struck their head. Rescue crews reached the patient and established a low-slope anchor and hauling system to safely bring the individual back to the main pathway. The patient was then transferred to paramedics for further medical care. In the wake of the incident, London fire is encouraging anyone heading into a park, pathway or backcountry area to ensure they can call 911 if needed and are able to share their location using Google Maps or Apple Maps to help emergency responders find them quickly and safely.
