A crash involving a transport truck shut down a pair of roads in Central Elgin early Saturday morning. The crash at the intersection of Belmont Road and Lyons Line just south of Belmont closed the pair of throughways for a few hours while clean up took place. Early Saturday morning, bales of hay were in the ditch and along the shoulder of the road, while Belmont Road had visible stains from where the oil was spilled at the intersection. OPP did not release any other details about the crash. Two hours later, he eastbound lanes of the 401 reopened at Culloden Line in Ingersoll after they were closed due to a vehicle fire. Police also did not release any details other than a post on X at 2:27 a.m saying the highway was closed, and then a follow up post at 5:25 revealing it had reopened.
