Police investigating after woman’s body pulled from St. Lawrence River

Montreal police say they are investigating after a woman’s body was pulled from the St. Lawrence River.

Police received a 911 call shortly before 2 p.m. on Monday about a report of a body in the water near 44th Avenue and Saint-Joseph Boulevard in Lachine, according to spokesperson Anne-Sophie Simard.

When officers arrived, firefighters were already on scene rescuing the woman, who is believed to be 36 years old. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

A perimeter was set up to allow investigators to begin investigating the circumstances of the incident.

The cause of death is not yet known.
