RCMP officer charged with organizing illegal border entry of family member

A Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) officer is facing charges after allegedly organizing the illegal entry of one of his family members into Canada.

Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu, Que., resident Aaron Baringue, 36, was arrested for breach of trust and obstruction for alleged actions that occurred in September 2024, when he was a patrol officer with the Champlain Integrated Border Enforcement Team.

“He has been suspended from duty since the incident occurred,” the RCMP said in a news release.

Baringue is scheduled to appear at the Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu courthouse on July 20.
