Three people have been arrested in connection with the death of a young man in his 20s, whose body was found Monday evening in a home on the North Shore. The Sûreté du Québec (SQ) was called around 10:15 p.m. to an address on Labrie Street in Pointe-aux-Outardes following the discovery of an unresponsive person. The town is located about 30 kilometres southwest of Baie-Comeau. When officers arrived, they quickly performed resuscitation efforts on the young man, but after being transported to hospital, he was pronounced dead. “According to our initial information, three suspects reportedly went to the address and opened fire on the victim,” said SQ spokesperson Élizabeth Marquis-Guy. Police were able to arrest the three individuals following a search operation. The suspects remained in custody pending their scheduled court appearance at the Baie-Comeau courthouse. “Investigators from the Crimes Against Persons Unit were on the scene to analyze the evidence and better understand the causes and circumstances surrounding the incident,” said Marquis-Guy. The police investigation was ongoing Tuesday afternoon. - This report by The Canadian Press was first published in French on July 21, 2026.
