Woman, man in hospital after physical altercation in Montreal home

A 41-year-old woman and a 51-year-old man are in hospital following a physical altercation at a home in Montreal’s Pierrefonds-Roxboro borough early Thursday morning.

Montreal police (SPVM) says the incident happened at 3 a.m. on Athéna Street.

“The man and the woman got involved in an argument, and it became physical at one point,” said Raphaël Bergeron, a spokesperson with Montreal police. “The suspect in this case is the man who inflicted injuries to the victim.”

He explains that the woman was transported to hospital with serious injuries.

She is now in a stable condition, and her life is not considered to be in danger.

The man was also transported to hospital.

“He self-inflicted injuries to himself that put him in a serious condition,” said Bergeron, adding the man is currently undergoing surgery.

The investigation into the cause of the altercation is ongoing.
