‘Dangerous thunderstorms’ on the way to southwestern Quebec

“Dangerous thunderstorms” could develop in areas west of the Island of Montreal on Monday afternoon.

Areas include:

• Valleyfield
• Vaudreuil
• Soulanges
• Lachute
• St-Eustache
• St-Jerome
• Huntingdon
• Gatineau

As such, Environment and Climate Change Canada (ECCC) has issued a severe thunderstorm watch for the region.

It states that the weather system could produce “damaging wind gusts, large hail and heavy rain” into the evening.

“Driving conditions may be difficult. Local utility outages are possible,” the agency notes.

People are also being advised not to take part in nautical activities due to the risk of “sudden, severe wind gusts over bodies of water.”
