Sault driver suspended for 90 days after impaired driving charge

Ontario Provincial Police charged a 47-year-old woman from Sault Ste. Marie with impaired driving late Saturday night at about 10:50 p.m.

“Members from the Nipissing West (Sudbury) Detachment of the OPP, responded to a complaint of a possible impaired driver on Highway 17, Sudbury,” police said in a release Monday.

The motorist was also charged with failing or refusing to comply with a demand.

In addition to the charges, the woman received a 90-day licence suspension and police said her vehicle was impounded for seven days.

The accused was released and is scheduled to appear in court in Sudbury on July 22.

“If you plan to consume alcohol or drugs, arrange for a safe ride home, use a designated driver, call a taxi, or use a rideshare service,” OPP said.
