Sault man charged with possession of child sex abuse materials

Police in Sault Ste. Marie charged a 45-year-old local man with possession of child sexual abuse and exploitation material.

The arrest took place May 22, police said in a news release May 28.

“Following an investigation into the accused, detectives executed a search warrant at the accused’s residence and located multiple videos and images meeting the definition of child sexual abuse and exploitation material … on one of their devices,” police said.

“The accused was arrested. Multiple devices have been seized for further investigation.”

The accused is charged with possession of child sexual abuse and exploitation material and he was held in custody pending a bail hearing.
