Sault police charge 3 in teens assault case

Police in Sault Ste. Marie have charged three teenagers with assault causing bodily harm following an incident in the 100 block of Denwood Drive on Friday.

Police said officers were dispatched to the scene shortly before 8:30 p.m. on July 3 after 911 operators received a report of a disturbance involving youth in the area.

“An investigation revealed the three accused assaulted a victim by pushing, punching, and kicking them,” the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service said in a news release Monday.

Officers said the victim, also a youth, sustained minor physical injuries and was transported to hospital for treatment.

“The victim and three accused are known to one another,” said police.

The accused, a 13-year-old and two 14-year-olds, were taken into custody and each charged with assault causing bodily harm.

They were all released on undertakings and are scheduled to appear in court on Aug. 25.
