An international fireworks festival will light up the night sky across Ottawa and Gatineau over the next three weeks. The 29th edition of Les Grands Feux du Casino Lac-Leamy will take place every Wednesday and Saturday, featuring six nights of shows from July 29 until Aug. 15. “Every night, the Grands Feux take you to the four corners of the world with pyromusical shows synchronized with soundtracks,” festival organizers say. The fireworks are launched from a barge on the Ottawa River against the backdrop of Parliament Hill. Each performance will last around 25 minutes and begin at 9:15 p.m. The main site of the festival will take place on the grounds of the Canadian Museum of History, though the fireworks will be visible and heard from various locations. Some of the most popular locations include Kiweki Point and Major’s Hill Park. The schedule for Les Grand Feux du Casino Lac-Leamy: Wednesday, July 29: The opening night, represented by Royal Pyrotechnie, will feature a “Casino Royale” inspired performance with a “festive and glamourous atmosphere” along with live DJs to accompany the show. Saturday, Aug. 1: Canada, represented by Orion Fireworks, is the first team to go and will take viewers into the “Odyssey of the Cosmos,” inspired by planets, stars, and celestial phenomena. Wednesday, Aug. 5: France, represented by Pyragric Fireworks, is themed the “French Touch” to celebrate the electronic music scene that conquered the world, with music from Daft Punk, David Guetta and Bob Sinclair. Saturday, Aug 8: Brazil, represented by Vision Show, with present its show “Emotion in every moment” inspired by the energy of Rio Carnaval. Wednesday, Aug. 12: China, represented by Dancing Fireworks, is inspired by Vivaldi’s The Four Seasons “where nature comes to life with the changing seasons.” Saturday. Aug. 15: The Grand Final, represented by Royal Pyrotechnie, will celebrates heroes, including superheroes, incredible athletes and unsung heroes of everyday life. Other activities on the grounds of the festival include a Magical Forest for children and families, the Promutuel Plaza with food trucks and live music, and the Enchanted Haven, a brand-new immersive space with interactive activities for kids. Tickets are required to enter the festival site and can be purchased online.
