Two people were taken to hospital after a fire at a home in northwest Calgary Sunday night. The Calgary Fire Department was called to the 200 block of Hawkstone Drive around 10:30 p.m. Crews arrived to find light smoke in the air and one injured person. Firefighters then discovered a fire on the back deck of a single-family home. A second injured person was then found behind the home. Firefighters were able to quickly bring the flames under control and extinguish the fire. Both patients were assessed at the scene and taken to hospital by ambulance. Their conditions have not been released. CFD said nine fire apparatus and more than 20 firefighters responded. The cause of the fire remains under investigation, with Calgary police taking over the lead.
