‘Forget Brady Day’: Ottawa Titans offering free Tkachuk jersey exchange

After the recent departure of Ottawa Senators captain Brady Tkachuk, another local sports club is giving fans in the capital the chance to hang their hopes on a new number 7.

The Ottawa Titans announced in a Thursday afternoon social media post that fans will have the chance to exchange their Tkachuk jerseys for an AJ Wright jersey on July 7, a day the organization has dubbed “Forget Brady Day.”

“You’ve probably been asking yourself, what do I even do with this jersey now?” a spokesperson for the Titans said in a social media video. “Well, on July 7^th, we’ve got a solution.”

Tkachuk was traded to the Florida Panthers on Sunday. The former Sens captain requested a trade from the team, sparking anger and disappointment from many fans.

Now, the Titans say they’re offering Ottawa residents the chance to route for a new local athlete who sports the number 7 jersey.

“Fill out our form, bring a Brady Tkachuk jersey, and we’ll order you an AJ Wright jersey,” the Titans wrote.

Wright is an infielder for the Titans who the organization described in their post as the “franchise leader in basically everything.”

Fans who have completed the online form and purchased a valid ticket to the July 7 game will be eligible to exchange their jersey. Quantities are limited and the jersey’s will be ordered and arrive at a later date, the organization says.

“Trade your old number 7, for Ottawa’s new favourite 7,” the spokesperson said.
